Art in the Park returns to Morro Bay for summer tradition spanning seven decades

The Morro Bay Art Association will continue its long-running “Art in the Park” tradition this year, bringing more than 100 artists to Morro Bay Park for one of the Central Coast’s signature outdoor art festivals.

Held three times annually over Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends, the event transforms the park at 750 Harbor St. into an open-air showcase of painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry, set against views of Morro Rock and the Pacific Ocean. Admission is free.

Founded in 1955, Morro Bay Art Association created the festival to connect artists with the public while providing a venue to exhibit and sell work. Today, “Art in the Park” remains the organization’s primary fundraiser, supporting scholarships and programming at Art Center Morro Bay, which hosts year-round exhibitions, classes, and community events.

Organizers say proceeds help sustain arts education and expand community engagement as the association approaches its 75th anniversary.
